mousie has lice?

lice

p106_peppy asked:

I rescued a mousie with a boken leg from outside. It’s living in a box in my shower, I’m feeding it oatmeal, red-river cerial, and lentil sprouts. I give it a very weak soloution of antibiotics and tylanol mixed with salt, sugar, and lemon juice twice a day from an eyedropper, as well as a dish of fresh water, but he doesnt seem to move arround teh box much.

Anyway, I’m pretty positive it has lice. It has these tiny crawly bugs on it, that look kind of like what I saw when I googled "lice".

So I’m wondering:

1. Can I get the lice? (I have very long, very fine hair)

2. What can I do to cure the lice? I’m thinking of rubbing a bit of diotanaceous earth into it’s back. What would you do?

Also, other than hanta virus, are there any things that I can catch from a wild mouse and/or the lice on my mouse?
Victoria, thank you, but it is a WILD MOUSE. I dont want to sink much money into the fella, as I plan on releasing him once he’s healed.

I have an aquarium, but aqauriums were not ment for keeping rodents. They dont get enough airflow and they’re difficult to change the bedding.

The way I have it now it’s in a box, an open box, and when the bedding gets to dirty I just get a new box. The box is kept in my shower (which I hardly ever use because normaly I shower at the gym) so that if he does manage to chew through the box, he’s still cant go anywhere.

And excercise wheel is completely unnecicary as his leg is broken at a 90 degree angle. He does have some toys, like a paper towel roll. But he has chosen to remain in a corner only moving about 3 inches arround it.

human lice treatment is ment to be used as a shampoo, that is, washed out. So I think just rubbing in a product not ment for mice will give him a rash.
Thanks mommycaleb. I dont plan on spending any money, as it’s a wild mouse. So I wont be calling the vet.

Technically what I’m giving it is ibuprophene (which is advil, not tylanol) and the antibiotic is minocyclen. So is that okay? do you know whee I can find what is poisonus to mice?
