Lice?! YUCK! How can I maintain a relationship with my best friend if she is inconsiderate?

My best friend and I have known each other for years. Great girl, problem is, she not very clean. Her daughter (who is the same age as my four yr old) continues getting lice and my friend never tells me about it. I find out from other friends or family. On one occasion, her daughters father confided in me that he was upset b/c he had to treat his daughter for lice which she had claimed she had "no idea" of.

This time while I was combing her daughters hair and I saw nits. I immediately called her and she started scanning her hair herself and said she found nothing. Yet, she wouldn’t let me point them out to her. I admit, afterwards I was a little tough, insisting that all my laundry be taken up and my daughter keep her distance.

I’m sick of her being so inconsiderate. She knows how much of a germophobe i am when it comes to the topic of lice. In addition to that, my ex husband picks at everything my daughter has, so her getting reoccuring lice is simply, unnacceptable and nasty
